What Are You Thankful For?
It doesn’t seem possible but Thanksgiving is just a little over a week away. Every year during our family Thanksgiving Dinner we pass around the Thankful Pot. My aunt started the tradition many years ago, now it’s something I look forward to every year.
After everyone eats, when everyone is milling around complaining they’re overstuffed, the kids pass out slips of paper. Everyone finds a spot and writes down what they are thankful for this year. Some pretend it’s sheer torture to come up with anything to be thankful for. I usually fill up the paper, because I don’t want to forget someone, or something.
It’s really a great exercise, and a great chance to focus on all the positive things in our lives. I’m always thankful for my family, and the magical gifts Mother Nature gives to us.
After everyone has written down what they’re thankful for, one person reads them all. While they’re reading them we try to guess who wrote it. Even the little ones tell what they’re thankful for with a little help from mom or dad.
What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving season?
