Can you believe it? As of November 1st I’ve been blogging at Mother Earth’s Garden for 2 years! I’ve had a great time writing here. I completely forgot about the anniversary over the weekend, and didn’t even remember until today.

Hedge Apples To Repel Spiders

Have you ever heard of hedge apples? They’re a grapefruit sized bumpy looking fruit that grow on the Osage-orange (Maclura pomifera) tree. They have their own website- hedgeapple.com. The site shows how to use them for decorating, and drying.
While they’re not edible, they’re also not poisonous.
Have you tried putting hedge apples around the outside of your house to help keep spiders away? I use them every year, and I think they truly do help. I’m all for natural bug repellants. Since we have three hedge apple trees on our property I gather a bag of them every fall and …read more
