I’ll get it started with a couple of my favorite gardening tips. A few little gardening tricks I’ve learned through the years.

Here are a couple of my gardening tips:
1. Use old spice shakers, or Parmesan cheese cans to spread small seeds in the garden. Just put the seeds in the empty shaker jar, and shake them out through the small holes to spread the seeds evenly over a large area.
2. Use alfalfa pellets from the pet shop (find them with the hamster supplies) to make an alfalfa tea for your plants. Wrap the alfalfa in mesh, or cheesecloth, and submerge it in a bucket of water for about 24 hours. Use the water on your garden for a great natural plant pick me up.
3. Feed your seedlings chamomile tea to help prevent damping off (wilting). Young seedlings are very prone to a fungus that causes them to wilt overnight (called damping off). Make a cup of chamomile tea, and let it cool. Put the liquid in a spritzer and give your seedlings a squirt. The anti fungal properties in the chamomile will help keep the disease at bay.
4. Instead of purchasing expensive prepared seed tapes you can create your own. Cut newspaper into strips about 1″ wide. Create a paste from flour and water about the consistency of thick gravy. Dot the paste on the newspaper strip at evenly spaced intervals and apply the seeds. Cover the seeds with more paste, then lay the seeds aside to dry. You may want to place them in front of a fan (on low), or in front of a heat duct, to dry them quickly and avoid seed germination. You can store the seed tapes in a plastic container or bag until you are ready to plant.
When you are ready to plant, simply roll out the seed tape, cover with soil and water them in with water mixed with your favorite organic fertilizer. The newspaper will rot away as the seeds grow.
