Olympic Floral Displays

As you no doubt realized if you watched the Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies, the city of Beijing spared no expense in getting ready for their two weeks to shine on the world stage. This includes adorning the city with more than 40 million floral displays, like the one pictured above. (40 million!)
Five million of these will decorate the area surrounding the Olympic Green (where the Bird’s Nest Stadium and Aquatic Cube are located). Special heat-resident types of flowers were used so that they can withstand the arid heat in Beijing this time of year.
