Mother Earth’s Garden

Mother Nature Decorates for Christmas

by linette on December 6th, 2007

Evergreens In The Snow (c)Linette GerlachWe woke up this morning to a little Christmas bling from Mother Nature. My yard and garden are covered with snow. It’s the big fluffy snow that covers everything. The view is very festive and beautiful. It’s finally getting me in the Christmas spirit, which is a good thing since we are decorating this weekend.

Here are some of the scenes from my yard and garden.

Snow Scenes (c)Linette GerlachMy son woke up excited because there’s no school today. I have mixed feelings. I’m excited about the snow, but I substitute teach. I’ve been subbing every day for the last couple weeks. Great for extra Christmas cash. The day off means the loss of a day of pay for subbing, but it also means I can get caught up on my writing.

December’s a hectic month, and I’ve been behind since we went out of town a few weeks ago. So I decided I’m going to kick back and enjoy the beautiful view while I write.

I’ll leave you with a photo that shows why I never cut back my perennial garden until spring. The dried plants and seedheads are great food for the birds and animals, and I can see scenes like this from my window while I write. I’ll get busy right after I go have a snowball fight with my son.
