Making Minted Sugar

by linette on January 4th, 2008

Image and video hosting by TinyPicDuring the summer we have mint all over one of our pastures, it was planted there by a previous owner. I love mint, my favorite is chocolate mint. In the summer I have mint tea, minted peas, and anything else I can think of to do with mint.

One of my favorite things to make is minted sugar. All you need is about 6 mint leaves, and a cup of sugar, and a blender. Just add the leaves and the sugar to the blender and pulse on high until everything is well blended. Spread the sugar out on a cookie sheet and let it dry overnight. Store your minted sugar away for later. You can also add green or red food coloring to your sugar when you’re blending it.

Mint sugar makes a great herbal gift if you put it in a decorative jar, with a handmade label. It’s delicious in cookies, hot chocolate, or tea.

If you have an overabundance of mint this summer, try this simple recipe.
