Make A Harvest Necklace
My son’s been off school the last couple days for parent-teacher conferences. We took the opportunity to take a walk through the woods. While we were there we gathered up some fall leaves, nuts, buckeyes, and seeds.
When we returned to the house, we decided to make a harvest necklace. We looked up some information on the nuts, leaves and seeds we’d gathered. Then I used a Dremel tool, with a small bit, and a small vice, to drill holes in the nuts, buckeyes, and some of the shells. We strung them all together, now we have a harvest necklace. My son’s going to take it to school to share with his class. It was a fun easy nature lesson, and he didn’t even realize he was learning.
After he’s done with it, I think we’ll string it outside on one of our trees and let the birds, and other animals reclaim it. This would also make a great natural garland for trees this Christmas, if you made several strands.
