Keeping Animals Out of Potted Plants

by Rebecca on April 4th, 2007

pineconeHaving trouble with small animals getting in your potted plants? Don’t want to spray chemicals or use other material that will harm either the plant or the animals? Are you also wanting something that looks nice or decorative? Try putting pine cones in the base around the plant, and in the case of out door plants put mesh and pine cones on the ground around the pots. Rabbits and stay cats hate this sort of thing on their feet and it makes a good decoration if done correctly. In the case of squirrels and raccoons, I’d be glad to hear of some ideas on how to tastefully keep them away. I seem to be finding lots of info that is just plain ugly!

Oooh….I needed this tip. There are some squirrels who better hope this works! I’ve hear that putting a few moth balls in the beds or pots will work, too.
