January 2009 Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day

My January garden is covered in about 6 to 8 inches of snow right now, so there’s not much blooming action going on there.

I do have several potted plants that I brought in last fall, and they’re still blooming their little hearts out. I have a couple geraniums, and a begonia that don’t even realize it’s January. My poinsettia’s still blooming, but it doesn’t look as good as it did for December’s Garden Blogger Bloom Day.

This red geranium looks like it’s blooming from the rosemary plant, but it’s just an illusion.

My paper whites are done blooming, except for one bulb that just shot up a bud. But I’m forcing an amaryllis bulb that’s thinking about shooting up in the next couple weeks, so hopefully it will be in full bloom for February’s bloom day…Stay tuned!

I like those geraniums. I think I’ll add some to my summer garden, so I’ll have them to bring in for winter. They are a good splash of color in winter.

Thanks for joining in for bloom day.

LOL-I wouldn’t have thought of this except that you said it looked like your geranium was blooming on the rosemary, but it kind of looks like you were taking a picture of the rosemary and at the last minute the geranium jumped in front of the camera and stuck its head in the picture! Can’t say that I blame it-it does seem to be primed for a photo op.
