Get Started Now On Your Summer Container Gardens
If you plan to grow your summer container gardens from seeds, now is the perfect time to start the plants, if you have room. I live in an old brick house with really wide windowsills, so this time of year, all the way through spring my windowsills are full of growing plants. My laundry room is also loaded with growing plants, and my porch will have its share once the really cold temperatures have passed in late March.
You can start your flowers or plants in seed pots, or in their final container, depending on your space. I bring in my smaller containers in the fall after I’ve cleaned them up, and have them ready for planting time. Then I’ll often seed my containers and sit them in a warm windowsill to get started, until it’s warm enough for them to go outside.
