Controlling Ants Naturally
Ants were a huge problem at our house last summer. Here are some really easy tips to get rid of ants naturally.
We had a problem inside our house, and outside around the foundation and sidewalks. We have an old house full of cracks, so the ants love it. I gave some of these ant control tips a try.
1. Use vinegar and water, or soapy water to wash away ants scent paths. The ants use the scents on their paths to lead other ants to food sources, and back to the nest.
2. If you find an ants nest, you can destroy it by pouring hot soapy water on it.
3. Keep all counters, and floors wiped clean of food. If you have a food spill clean it up as soon as possible, and don’t leave open food sitting around.
4. You can use boric acid on an old plastic lid, or piece of cardboard. The boric acid is poison for ants, but it can also be hazardous for children or pets, so use with extreme caution.
5. You can also use my favorite method… The stomp method, stomp on as many as you can, as fast as you can.
6. Birds are also great for ant pest control, so encourage a few birds to come live in your garden.
7. Inside the house use caulk to seal any cracks you see ants coming through, and wash away their paths.
Good luck with your ant control this summer!
