Compliments to the Chef/Gardener

by Rebecca on August 21st, 2007

I harvested the first of my corn and made it with dinner last night. My husband took one bite and tuned to me and said “This is the best corn I’ve ever tasted!” High compliments to both the gardener and cook in me. I only had four ears and he was disappointed that he would have to wait for more! Feel free to share some recipes or compliments for your harvest!

Oh yum! There are few things better than super fresh corn on the cob.

Super fresh green beans are better I think and they don’t get stuck in your teeth — but corn smells nicer cooking. (or grilling)

I was going to plant green beans this year, since they are my favorite vegetable, but I had limited space and opted for limas instead. My parents like limas and I knew they would like some fresh ones. But only about five out of twenty plants grew, and they all died once they started blooming. I should have planted green beans! :(

Yum! I’ve never tried growing corn. The tomatoes and peppers our neighbors have never complained about; having 7-8′ tall cornstalks in our front yard might get them lobbying, though. LOL We had some delicious corn at our friend’s house the other night; they got it from a local grower who sells by roadside. I love corn without salt or butter, just its natural sweetness. Ohhhh, yummy.

I love corn on the cob. Fresh from the garden would be amazing! One of these days I’m going to grow something and eat it! Even if it’s a darn herb!!

Kudos to the gardener and chef! Reading this makes me really hungry and wishing that I was your neighbor in the event of any excess crops. (hee hee)
