Coffee plant begins to look good

by Margaret on February 6th, 2007

Coffee plant 5 FebruaryThere is still a whisp of husk holding back our coffee seedling, but it is beginning, at long last, to look as though it may become a fully fledged plant. I know this is a blurry photo (never was my strength) but you can see how the shell of the coffee bean is still there, keeping the leaves on the right hand side of the plant furled like an umbrella while those on the left are busting to display themselves to the sun. “Don’t touch it!” my husband John said tonight when it looked as though I might try and pick the husk off. “The plant has to do it.” So we watch and wait. If we ever get coffee beans off this plant, the first cup will be sweet indeed!
