Mother Earth’s Garden

Anything Can Be A Container Garden

by linette on April 7th, 2008

unusual flower containers You don’t have to use the conventional clay pot for your container garden. Use your imagination, I’ve seen old boots, bathtubs, horse troughs, dish pans, birdhouses, wagons, wheelbarrows and more used as container gardens.

My son planted a marigold in a gardening glove for me for mothers day one year. I absolutely loved it. It had a piece of wire worked through the top of the glove. I hung it one a fence post for the summer. It had to be watered every day, but it was such a unique gift I didn’t mind.

Recycle those old work boots, tea pots, and pans into this years garden centerpiece.

You can also use old tubs, troughs, and buckets to add a water feature to your garden. This spring we’re going to use an old concrete watering trough up by our barn for a water garden. I’ll be bringing you before and after photos as we get it accomplished.

What have you recycled for a garden container, or water feature in your garden? I would love to hear everyone’s recycled garden container ideas.
