3 Gardens Down
We’re playing a fun game this month at the Lifestyles channel. The game’s called 3 doors down, but since this is a gardening blog I thought I’d call it three gardens down.
We start with the blog 3 down from us on the Lifestyles blog list. The blog that’s 3 doors down from Mother Earth’s Garden is Offbeat Homes. It’s one of my favorite blogs and it’s written by Jennifer Chait, one of my favorite bloggers. The best part is there are offbeat gardens there too.
Since this is all about getting to know your neighbors, I asked Jennifer a couple questions about Offbeat Homes.
MEG: What are your favorite Offbeat posts you’ve ever done?
Jennifer: That’s a tough question…
My interview with Bart - I’m a huge fan of his work so I was really happy he agreed to an interview. It was in two parts:
Offbeat Hot: Q&A With Architect Bart Prince
Offbeat Hot:Q&A With Architect Bart Prince (part 2)
The Josh interview, because I’m not into celebs, even TV ones, but both Josh and his PR were really cool and gracious - it was a good surprise. Actually I get emails from other home show types at HGTV too and they’re always very nice, they keep me up on what’s new. HGTV Design Star Contestant Josh Johnson (”Sparkle Josh”) Chats with Offbeat Homes!
50 Fresh & Juicy Slices of Offbeat Home Decor
The above was my first major list post ever, and it turned out great - everyone loved it and so did I.
The Teenage Dream Pad - this post was great, everyone just loved it, and left the best comments ever, plus the teen in the post, (not a teen anymore) is such a nice guy.
But technically I like them all, it’s easier for me to list the posts I think suck - which I can count on maybe two hands. I pretty much love all the houses and crazy offbeat stuff.
MEG: What are some of your favorite Offbeat Homes with a view? ( I’m all about the view, and I know you are to)
Jennifer:
The Camouflage House
Lundberg Design House
Casa Buzeta
Believe me, there are plenty of others though. The Lundberg is likely my favorite.
MEG: Do you have any favorite offbeat gardens, or gardening ideas?
Jennifer: Someone might try to be like Dick & Jane.
Or maybe try a Luna Parc deal.
Thank you to Jennifer for being so patient with me and answering my questions.
I’ve been an Offbeat Homes regular reader since November of last year. Here are some of my favorite Offbeat posts:
The Mushroom House has a beautiful view, and I love the interior.
The Massive Treehouse would be fun. It looks like it defies the laws of gravity.
I’m also a big fan of the Piano House. I had to show this one to my husband, he’s into everything music.
I loved the Offbeat Sustainable Homes for Furry Friends. From dog houses to bird houses, these are the coolest pet homes I’ve ever seen.
And there are so many more… Go check out Offbeat Homes for yourself, you can get lost there for hours checking out all the offbeat goodness.

Thanks for all the many links :) I love the mushroom house - both of them actually (there are two - but I bet you like the fairytale one) and I love the pet homes. Odd, since I don’t love pets, but the homes rock. Thanks for the nice write-up.
