I know it’s hard to start thinking about Christmas when it’s only July, but… If you want to have dried, or pressed flowers, seeds or seed heads to use for your Christmas ornaments, holiday decorations, and cards you need to start harvesting them now.
I’ve been pressing and drying miniature roses, hydrangea, yellow yarrow, […]

It’s getting very buggy outside, especially in and around my flower garden. I think all the extra rain we’ve had has made a wonderful breeding ground for mosquitos and other bugs this year.
I’m allergic to the scents in many of the commercial insect repellents out there. Most of them throw me into a […]

I really enjoy yucca plants when they’re in bloom. They’re one of those plants that can also look attractive before they bloom. I enjoy their spikey foliage in the spring, and their seed pods add extra interest to the fall garden.
I also enjoy them for their easy care, they don’t seem to care if […]

Coleus has always been one of my favorite foliage plants. I really enjoy its cheery, bright leaves. It’s such a versatile plant, it can look beautiful in the shade or in full sun.
Coleus is a relatively easy to care for annual, that looks good all summer. To keep your coleus from getting leggy, simply […]

This time of year tomato leaves and stems start disappearing mysteriously. This disappearance can often be traced to the tomato hornworm.
Hornworms can cause massive damage to your tomato crop in a short time. They’re called “hornworms” because of the “horn” sticking up on their rear end. They not only chew the leaves and stems […]

I enjoy checking out garden containers that were originally used for other things. I showed you several recycled containers last spring, and old boot, and a bicycle, to name a few.
We’ve been traveling lately, so here are a couple more unique containers I’ve come across recently.
Here are a couple old shoes, recycled to […]
