Watering Tip 2

With Summer heat, and longer periods of sun, even vegetation that requires full sun can start to wilt. It’s very easy to over water your plants during this time, and unfortunately over watering and under watering usually have the same symptoms in plants. Wilting, or fading can also be a sign that your […]

Communing with Nature

One of my favorite activities in the world, is kayaking. Not because it’s great exercise, which it is, but because you reach a spot where there are no other kayaks around, the water is fairly smooth, no roads near by, and you can just lie back and drift. It’s probably one of the […]

Successful Transplant!

I recently decided to transplant a couple of the ferns that grow around my vegetable garden. This picture is of the ferns in their original spot. I’ve planted one large in a pot on my porch, and one small one for my husband’s desk. So far both seem to be adjusting quite well […]

First Fruits

This little Cherry Tomato is the first vegetable from my garden! This is the first vegetable patch I’ve planted and tended myself. Usually I’m only helping in someone else’s garden. Not quite sure what to do with this tomato. I suppose I should eat it, but that seems harsh. I […]

In the Path of Hummingbirds

My Uncle Bryan sent me these amazing pictures in an email. This lady lives in a Hummingbird migration zone. When they flew through, she decided to try holding some sugar water in her hand and see what happened. I’ve never seen Hummingbirds get this close to people!

Watering Tip

Any time you water a plant, especially one in a container, pouring directly onto the soil can expose roots and keep water from spreading evenly through the soil. If you’ve had this problem, then instead of pouring water directly on the soil, try pouring it onto broken terra cotta pieces. I use a […]
