Spring time Moods

Spring time Moods

I’ve noticed something today. Every one seems a lot nicer in the spring. I was walking down town this morning and was greeted by five people. One of whom was in a car. That never would have happened a couple of weeks ago. People normally walk on by with out so much as a smile, it’s darn depressing. Must be something about spring that makes people happy and less reserved! Good bye winter blues!

A planned garden: Who are you planting for?

A planned garden: Who are you planting for?

This is the determining factor for how your garden will look, and what you will be growing. Are you planting simply for your own enjoyment? If this is the case you can pretty much grow what ever you want in your garden, because its all for you! Or you might be planting for other people, for example if you want your flowers to be seen and enjoyed by passer by, or if you are planning on growing vegetables to give to people or potted plants. If this is the case, you will have to be more picky in your choices. …read more

What does your garden say about you?

What does your garden say about you?

A friend told me a while back, that most gardeners tend to be neat freaks and very picky, at least the really serious ones. Well, I know that is not true. I love to garden, but my garden usually looks like some one walk into the middle of a grove and just scattered random seeds. And I’m probably the worst house keeper ever, very laid back. I like my garden wild, and natural looking, and I like my house to feel lived in. My mom on the other hand, is a very good house keeper, …read more

Gardening for cats

Gardening for cats

I don’t have children yet, so of course I spoil and shower lots of love upon my two cats. So how do you include fuzzy little pets into your garden? Well, first of all, figure out where you don’t want them. If you are worried about them eating your plants, digging in your flower bed, rolling in the dirt, or simply being cats, then you might not want to let them in your garden. But if you have cats like mine, who are simply too cute for their own good, and usually are not too mischeivious …read more

Rain Rain, Go Away

Rain Rain, Go Away

I don’t think any one in my area is going to have to water their garden this year. I wonder if I can grow water lily’s in my front yard now? Two weeks strait and counting!

Seedling Haiku

Seedling Haiku

Okay, it’s not really a haiku, but it is poetic! Cory Aldrich wrote an interesting little story about a seedling. I thought it really captured the excitement of a hatching seed! Go check it out on 55fiction.

Welcome long awaited Spring!

Welcome long awaited Spring!

It is finally starting to warm up a bit. I went for a long bike ride yesterday. I highly recommend going biking, or simply going for a walk in your local park. It can revive you, get you ready for the season. And possibly give you some ideas! It felt good after waiting through winter to be back out on my bike. Here are some pics of things I saw on my ride:
Little trees

Big trees

New growth in the underbrush

Cool old barn.

Rickety bridge.

Peaceful streams.

Not so peaceful streams!

And bubbling brooks.

A planned garden: Where to plant PART II

A planned garden: Where to plant PART II

The more serious gardeners will probably be planting a much bigger area than just a few beds to spruce up an area. Like wise, they would already know all about soil, light and water needs. You are going from where am I going to plant, to how is my garden going to be designed? Where are my paths going to be? Will I have paths at all? Which flowers are going where? What colors do I use? If you are at a total loss on visualizing your garden, why not go high tech? Imagine Pro Landscape and Outdoor Living is …read more
